So what is a Capture3D tour? Capture3D uses a camera developed specifically for this application; the creation of a complete three-dimensional representation of a property. This allows the viewer to navigate through a space to experience it as if they were there.
The iPad App Screen Shot
For years now, Real Estate agents have been showcasing properties with high-resolution video and professional photography, including “panoramic” photos which allow viewers to pan from left to right to get a feel for a property. The camera used by Capture3D surpasses these more traditional methods of showcasing a space, scanning a property’s interior from dozens of points, allowing viewers to see a room from literally any angle. It is, truly, the next best thing to being there. Click on any spot on the floor and you can instantly view 360˚ the space from that spot.
The Dollhouse View
The individual 3D models of the properties are stored on remote web servers; the link to the showcase can be embedded into your web page. One of the most unique features is the “dollhouse view”. This view presents to the viewer a three dimensional layout of the property. From this perspective, you can rotate the property, stop and enter any room with just one click.

- Q: Do I have to be present during the shoot?
A: No. We only require access to the property. - Q: What is the difference between a scan and a shoot?
A: In the context of this website there is no difference. The camera actually “scans” and measures an area at the same time that it photographs it. We will sometimes refer to a scan or shoot and both would infer the same. - Q: What do I need to view Capture3D models?
A: Most current computers running the latest version of Windows or OSX, and the latest version of Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Internet Explorer can view the showcase. We recommend Firefox for Android mobile. Any viewing problems are usually resolved by confirming both the operating system and browser are up to date. - Q: Will our photographer prepare the area prior to shooting?
A: No. You must have the areas clean, staged and presentable. First impression is important, and a clean well staged property will appeal to viewers. Ceiling fans should be off. Photographers may open blinds and curtains depending on lighting. They will also turn on all lights. - Q: Do we shoot closets, bathrooms and laundry rooms?
A: Bathrooms and Laundry rooms, yes. We will shoot walk- in closets and pantries. - Q: Do we carry insurance?
A: Yes. We carry general liability insurance in the amount of one million dollars ($1,000,000). - Q: Our property has a lock box – can you get in?
A: Yes. We coordinate with the real estate agent / owner. - Q: Do you offer volume discounts?
A: Yes. – we offer an aggressive pricing structure. - Q: How long a does a shoot take?
A: A typical 3 bedroom 2000 square feethome generally takes between 1 1/2 – 3 hours. Depending on the property, and the number of scans, some may require up to 5 hours or more. - Q: Do you shoot exteriors such as the backyard or pool areas?
A: Yes. - Q: Can we edit the Showcase?
A: No. There is limitation to what we can edit after a tour is created. We can cut lines to define outside areas and delete scans if needed. We cannot edit the actual imagery itself. - Q: Why do we charge to host the Matterport Tour after 6 months?
A: We must pay for hosting space on the Matterport servers. While we offer the first 6 months free. We have to offset these hosting costs by charging our clients a nominal fee of $10 per month or $50 per 6 months. - Q: Will we shoot the garage or work shed?
A: Yes and No. We typically scan the “livable” area of the home which is the square footage the home is based on. This is also the “billable” square footage we base our fees from. We will add up to 500 square feet for free which might include an attached garage (accessible from inside the home) or shaded patio area.
